Supportive Hands

Our Story

Care that is deeply personal

We created Grandmas Girls because we knew care could be better.

We bring over 28 years of combined experience working with seniors across a variety of care settings.

As a Speech Language Pathologist and Physical Therapy Assistant, we’ve seen firsthand what works and what falls short, and we built Grandmas Girls to offer something better.

After years of working in traditional care settings, Tarah and Heather knew there had to be a better way. Grandmas Girls was created to provide the kind of care they would want for their own family.

  • " After suffering a stroke, my mom who had dementia for over 10 years, was placed at Grandmas Girls. She wasn’t talking, eating or getting up at the time. Almost a year later, my mom is eating well, getting up, and talking. I never thought she would recover to this point. She frequently hugs the staff and smiles at them. The owners, Heather and Tarah, have a true calling and experience working with elderly patients with dementia and it shows. I never thought my mom could be taken care of so well in her elderly years.

She gets round the clock care that caters to her every need. There is a small staff with a ratio of 1:2 or 1:3 with highly trained professionals. I can’t say enough good things about Grandmas Girls and the level of personable, professional and compassionate care. I NEVER worry about my mom’s care and am so blessed to have found such peace of mind thanks to Heather and Tarah.

The house is beautiful and clean. My mom always has good hygiene and healthy meals. She gets haircuts and manicures. They see that she gets medical care as needed and inform us of any changes in her health. They fully document her day every day and give her medications as prescribed.

She is engaged and in a routine. They even set up an Easter egg hunt for the residents. A residential home environment has done wonders for my mom. My mom truly could not be in a better loving environment."

    - Daughter of a Resident

  • "My wife is a resident at Grandmas Girls. I am so thankful and blessed everyday that I found this home for her. She is so well attended to and taken care of, just like family. Heather and Tarah who own and run Grandmas Girls do such a wonderful job daily. They have taken my wife in with open arms and tend to her everyday needs!

I am so happy that she is happy. Grandmas Girls meets and checks off everything for your loved one! I cannot say enough about the care they provide for my sweet wife!"

    - Husband of a Resident

  • When my mom had a stroke last year, ten years into her Alzheimer’s diagnosis, I was devastated, to say the least. While still in the hospital, it became evident that she would not be able to return home when she was released.

My plan had always been to have her move in with my husband and me when it became necessary. My mom would never end up in a home or facility. However, I was still working full-time, and it was apparent that she needed more care than I was able to provide.

We then took on the daunting task of finding just the right place for her. Our first scheduled stop was Grandmas Girls. I was already a hard no and had crossed them off my list before we even visited. I kept thinking, what kind of oversight is there? Anything can happen in a care home. If we had to place her somewhere, it was going to be somewhere with lots of people around to keep an eye on things and make sure she was well cared for when we weren’t there. As it turns out, more people means more mess, more chaos, and less individualized care.

I was right, but not in the way I expected. Anything can happen at Grandmas Girls, and it still is, almost 10 months later. After visiting just two other facilities, I knew Grandmas Girls, or “GG’s” as we now lovingly call them, was the place for my mom. The cleanliness, provider-to-patient ratio (2:1 or 3:1), daily routine, activities, medical support, and the genuine love provided to residents are truly exceptional.

In the 10 months that my mom has been in Heather and Tarah’s care, we have watched, and continue to watch, her bloom. When she first arrived, she was a shell of the woman she had been before her stroke. She was immobile, unable to speak, incontinent, and confused about where she was and why she was not going home due to her dementia.

With care, love, patience, and encouragement from the team at Grandmas Girls, she is now walking without assistance, speaking in complete sentences, and initiating her own trips to the bathroom more frequently. She is also on a much better schedule than she was before her stroke. Previously, her days consisted of sleeping until the afternoon and then sitting in a recliner until bedtime.

Now, she wakes up at a consistent time, gets dressed daily, bathes regularly, and eats three healthy, well-planned meals each day, all of which she had resisted before Grandmas Girls. She has even gone on outings to the farmers market and church and willingly participates in activities like puzzles and arts and crafts.

The progress she has made since moving into her new home, because that is exactly what it is, has been nothing short of amazing. She loves Heather, Tarah, and the rest of her care team at GG’s, and so do we. They have truly become family, both to my mom and to us.

There is not a single moment when I worry about her well-being or feel guilty about not having her at home with me. She is receiving better care than I could have ever provided, and she is thriving.

Heather, Tarah, and the Grandmas Girls team have been nothing short of a miracle for our family during one of the most difficult times in our lives. They are truly living their calling, and I will be forever grateful for them.

    - Daughter of a Resident

  • Tarah and Heather are professionals in every sense of the word when it comes to Senior care.  While she resided at Grandmas Girls, our Mom thrived as a result of the positive communication and consistent hands on attention she received daily.  My sister and I felt privileged for Mom to be in such a loving environment with compassionate, knowledgeable caregivers up until her last day.
